All they need to do is to appeal to a person's already existing thoughts. Young children believe that anything that happens is caused by an entity, invisible friend or monster in the closet etc. They are inexperienced in life and therefore this is the simplest explanation and the one their brain chooses. For example, if a pine cone falls out of a tree and hits them, it might be because someone in the tree threw it. This paranoia is a survival technique. Although adults have learned a more logical approach, many of them are still somewhat attached to these feelings. So, it's easy to get them to believe that someone is watching them.

A person who is taken into a group (like a so-called family) is indoctrinated into the tenets of the "church". Typically they go through several days of initial indoctrination, literally eating, sleeping and praying with other congregants and intiates. Peer pressure is used to wear down a person's ability to judge for themselves, and rely more and more on the group to decide for them.
Then a "test" is devised to determine whether or not the initiate is faithful to the group (really this is more to determine if the person is finally vine-ripe). If the "test" is failed, the initiate is led to believe he or she will be cast out of the group. If the "test" is a success, the initiate is told he or she will be welcome into the group.
If there is a failure (however that is defined), the initiate is told that they must devote themselves even more to the principles and tenets of the "church". In reality all of the initiates will "fail" but be offered a second chance to try harder.
Its all about power and control.
Otherwise, I use sudzo brainwashing detergent. Leaves your neurons sparkly clean.

I understand some of these more famous TV preachers seem like mamby pambys that could be convinced of anything.
But every man I know in my church had the world going for them before they were saved. Friends, partys, girls. My Pastor had a job making ALOT of money when he went full time at our church. We pay him 50,000 a year. That ISNT alot to the worlds standards, but he wants to serve God. My husband was in a band with his brother with 2 cds, playing all over the place. These werent people who had nothing. These were people who had alot, and choose God because they were convicted by the Holy Spirit. God works on all different people from all different classes of society. Calling them sheep, and lost, is not fair. People for longer then you know have known God is real, and now people start saying its all made up. Wow.

Depending upon which religious order you are brought up in.
In christianity from birth you are taught that you are born a sinner. By five years old you hear songs like 'Amazing Grace'
in which one of the lines say 'That saved a wretch like me'. So at five you learn you are a wretched sinner. When thay are done telling you how bad you are and you are thoroughly convinced of it then they tell you about Jesus. It's thorough brainwashing in the most sublte and heinous way. I don't recollect being born, but I don't think I was able to commit much sin. About the only thing I was capable of was crapping my diapers. I was told I was very good at it, too. Maybe this made me a wretched sinner. It sure was a wretched diaper,

They start with children. Because they are so naieve they are easily influenced and you have a little diciple following you around and believeing every word you say. It is called Conditioning.
(Just an example)... If someone is told from the day they are born that the sky is green, it is pretty hard to convince them its blue.
It is not just religion that does this...politics and education does too. What are your children learning at school?
People should be encouraged to learn how to think, not what to think.

People are weak minded, they want something to put their fears at ease, to give them comfort when things go wrong and to have something to make them feel superior to others.
These groups you speak of dont even use real evidence to convince their followers, they just use a book of fairy stories and people swallow it up and call their belief in the religion based on the fiction 'faith' which is the defence used when anyone finds faults in their stories.

Yes, they're that lost. I wonder if anyone will ever have the will to say 'let's make everyone smarter'
I am disgusted by the ignorance and stupidity in the world. Our progress is halted by the slowest common denominators.

Those who lean unto there own understanding of scripture are leading others astray and blinded by their "pride!" But this has to occur for the Kingdom of God is coming to this earth and establish His way as the only way.
Pride is man's downfall. The End of the circle of man's self rule will be the beginning of Christ's Kingdom but that "pride" must be broken first!

The majority of it works like this:
They start when you're young, vulnerable, and will believe anything a trusted adult tells you. They fill your head with fantastical stories. Then they seal the deal by telling you that there's horrible, torturous punishment awaiting you if you even THINK about questioning what you're told. You have this continuously drilled into your head your entire life.

I do not think that I am brain washed at all! I once was lost but now I am found! I am off to church! By my own free will. Rebuke me if you wish. I am grateful that I have a friend in Jesus! God bless you. Have a good day.
