There are loads of things which can affect essay writing. Three good rules would be:-
1. A hook. This would be the first line of a really good first paragraph to get the attention and interest of the reader. ( look at the first lines and paragraphs of a few books keeping that in mind.
2. Keep the paragraphs interesting and the sentences to a reasonable length.
3. Have a good finish - perhaps by mentioning the most interesting topic eg - so the mountain views really made that aholiday to remember. (leave them on a high note.
If you want a fourth, then
4. Keep the facts apart with interesting comments - no body wants to read a list of places, etc!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean but I'll try to answer based on what I think you are referring to.

A good essay always starts with an introduction. Often this is a quote from another source which clarifies the topic being debated. You then need to outline what your argument is about and how you are planning to approach it. You should also clarify any terms.

Your main body needs to be the argument itself. You should juxtapose different critics / quotes to illustrate the diversity of the debate. Good essays usually take issue with the critics and suggest areas that have not been explored in great depth.

The final bit of your essay is the conclusion. Here you need to weigh up the arguments and critics / quotes you have used and give your own balanced opinion on the matter.

You must then include a bibliography detailing all of your sources.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!!

I always thought it was 3.
1. The beginning.
2. The middle.
3. The end.
You need to have these laws worked out so you have clear definitions of where your story is going. It stops you from going on to long, or rounds all loose ends up so your story doesn't go rambling on.
