please email me to get the pic

i caught it a year ago and i was told it was a smallmouth bass so i cooked it and ate it but i just realized it's not a smallmouth bass!! i looked up a smallmouth and that's not it. it could be a crappie or even a spec or a really really really big brim but please tell me! i want to know what i ate!!!!!

Thanks for the opportunity to help you out here. Since you've already eaten the evidence, I'll just take a guess...I think you ate a large goldfish. Many people's goldfish get too large for their tanks, so they drop them into lakes. They loose their orange color and many people mistake them for a smallmouth bass. When you cook them and eat them, they have such a unique flavor that you realize that they are not smallmouth bass. Now, that you've heard my fish story, please choose my answer as THE BEST ANSWER!

I would suggest ya' go to your search bar and enter "species of game fish" (freshwater or saltwater) and possibly come up with a pic that would help out. It may take awhile, but I've had luck with this procedure. Good luck...

Oh Crap!! I hope it wasn't a Poison Buffaloe Fish!

People mistake these all the time for smallmouth!

What happens is the fish if full of mercury or something, and if you eat it, it get's into your bloodstream and the mercury deposits itself throughout your muscles and bone marrow.

It normally takes about 2 years to notice the effects.
