late at night when typing, i sometimes notice i have about 3-5 very small lumps on the back of my right hand. any ideas about what this can be?

These are usually small cysts, they are not harmful and usually will go way eventually. I have had these on different occasions and they do go way sometimes fast sometimes slow.

Repetitive motions such as typing can cause many physical problems. You might want to wear a hand support when you are typing. This can help you from developing such problems as carpal tunnel syndrome.

Your doctors should be able to tell you what supports will help you use the computer without problems.

Hard or soft? Where on your back of your hand?
Could just be veins beng pushed up by your tendons when your typing.
