changing my lifestyle but I am running into problems. I wanted to ask the women out there who keep themselves fit on a daily basis, could you tell me your routine? What you eat and how much, how much do you exercize and what do you do for exercize? I cannot seem to get myself a routine that works. Also, if there is anyone who used to be overweight and now they are in good shape and health, please let me know how you did it. I am trying to get my body right and my health on track. Learning about others who keep themselves fit on a daily basis might help me understand what I need to change.
Thanks!

Eating at regular intervals throughout the day. You should eat 5 times a day like every 2-3 hours. 3 small meals and 2 healthy snacks. Your body works more effciently to burn the calories when you spread the food out over the day instead of skipping meals and trying to starve yourself or eating 3 large meals a day. Eat more fruits and veggies, and lean meat cuts and fish, cut out the red meat (beef) as much as possible. Make sure you are drinking enough water too. An easy way to make sure you are getting enough water is to drink your weight (but as ounces) at a minimum each day. Cut out the sodas and fancy coffee drinks. Every once in a while you are going to get cravings, do allow yourself to eat a small portion of something that you are craving. A small portion can satisfy the urge to go crazy and over indulge.

As far as exercise goes, it's really important to find activities that you like doing, it's easier to stay motivated to workout when you like what you are doing. Don't over do the workouts when you are first starting out. Definitely do cardio workouts and some weight training. Contrary to what women believe, you will not bulk out like a shewoman if you lift weights. What you will do is speed up your metabolism. Lifting light weights to start with lots of repititions will help to tone your muscles and your muscles will continue to burn your metabolism for a good while after your workout is over, much longer than the cardio. Remember that cardio is working out your vascular system and burning fat and it is essential to do both cardio and strength training. Do make sure to take a few sessions with a trainer at the gym that can show you the right way to use the equipment so that you don't hurt yourself and to get the most from your workout. Switch up your workout routines, if you do the same thing all of the time it is really easy to burn out and lose motivation.

Take before, in between, and after pictures and hang them up on the mirror in your bathroom so you see them everyday, or inside your bedroom closet door if you have others in the house that you don't want looking at them. It's a great way to see the progress when a tape measure doesn't give you a visual idea.

Remember that it took awhile to put on the extra weight and to keep it off you should try to not take it off too fast or you may end up yo-yoing and gaining it all back. It takes time for your body to adjust to a new weight and it takes time for you to adjust to your new lifestyle to make it part of your everyday routine. Most of all, remember to reward yourself for losing the weight as you go. New clothes, pedicures, massages etc... you earn the right to celebrate your accomplishment!

Hmmm... I never really gave it much thought, but I try my best to eat healthy. It's very important to eat healthy. Too much greasy food wouldn't help your health or your weight as well. From the things I read, you could try eating 5 small meals a day evenly spaced out. Its like refilling a half-empty glass every time you drained half of it. You just add to what is left from the first to maintain your energy level. Because of this, fat build-up caused by eating three big meals is reduced since you burned off calories as fast as you intake it.

As for exercising, I don't really engage in much exercise, but I think losing weight has sometimes have to do with your stress level. Some people overeat when stress, while other lose their appetite. For me, its neither actually. It's more of the fact that my work is too hectic for me to eat properly. And I definitely won't wish this to happen to you. You could try crunches, sit-ups, and bending from your waist while sitting to help flatten your tummy. Using exercise equipments and enrolling into a gym would help tremendously. Or you could do the shortcut and buy contraptions such as the Sauna Belt.

Here's a tip though: When eating at night before going to bed, lie on your right side. The position will force the food to move faster to the small intestine, facilitating faster digestion.

When I started working out I would lift weights in front of the TV at 9pm every night. Now I find that getting up early (5:30) in the morning works best. If I wait until evening, there's always something to distract me or I'm too tired.

It's also good to have a goal. Sign up for a 5k race, pay your money, and then you'll know you need to train for it. Even if you walk the whole way it's a start.

I consider myself toned and fit although I don't frequent a gym. Instead, I incorporate exercise into my lifestyle in as many ways as possible. I begin by doing 25 push ups each morning before my shower. Then I do some yoga exercises for my arms and legs. As part of my lifestyle, I always park as far away as possible when going to the mall or supermarket to gain exercise. I also skip steps whenever I go upstairs (at least 25 times a day with 3 kids). I also take advantage of helping other carry groceries, shoveling, etc.
