Hindi evolved from Sanskrit, by way of the Middle Indo-Aryan Prakrit languages and Apabhramsha of the Middle Ages. There is no consensus for a specific time where the modern north Indian languages such as Hindi emerged, but c. 1000 AD is commonly accepted.[9] In the span of nearly a thousand years of Muslim influence, such as when Muslim rulers controlled much of northern India during the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire, many Persian and Arabic words were borrowed into Hindi. All Arabic words were loaned into Hindi via Persian, and hence do not preserve the original phonology of Arabic (Tiwari [1955] 2004).
Hindi is often contrasted with Urdu, another standardised form of Hindustani that is the official language of Pakistan and also an official language in some parts of India. The primary differences between the two are that Standard Hindi is written in Devanagari and draws its vocabulary with words from Sanskrit, while Urdu is written in Nastaliq script, a variant of the Perso-Arabic script, and draws heavily on Persian and Arabic vocabulary. The term "Urdu" also includes dialects of Hindustani other than the standardized languages. Other than these, linguists consider Hindi and Urdu to be the same language.

In my opinion Sanskrit, Kannada and Tamil are the oldest language, and it is difficult to tell which came first because the earliest Kannada inscription you can find is from Kadamba dynasty. and this inscription was used in Kannada only. where as, old Tamil inscriptions are written with the help of prakrit/ sanskrit. All i can tell is Tamil and Kannada both were born together from proto dravidian language and sanskrit is used for mantra purposes.

Tamil is the oldest living language in India .I am opposing what Kongara has written .Kongara has to know that Tamil is older than Telugu. In fact TAMIL is the mother language of all Dravidian languages and it is older than sanskrit.
The first inhabitants of the Indian subcontinent were the dravidians who lived in present day south tamilnadu and kerala...and they spoke a language that is deived by imitating the basic sounds of birds and animals...this language later grew to be called Tamil and it had acquired a written form...The brahmi script was used in the earliest tamil literature that has been found..this script is the base of all the scripts of dravidian languages...
DNA studies have shown that the original inhabitants of the Indian subcontinent (Much before the Aryans came into north India and much before the language sanskrit was born) were the Virumandi clan in tamilnadu and they speak Tamil...these people are the original Indians if you want to call them so...Please watch the googlevideos link and the DNA studies of the haplo group website...
Later Dravidians migrated further north and and settled in present day karnataka, Andhra etc...Initially these settlers were speaking tamil but slowly it got modified and they developed their own script and their dialect developed into a mature, independent form known as todays Kannada and Telugu...

Tamil for sure . People who talk else wise have to look for the history of sangam literature the mere fact the first two tamil sangams were held in the now lost kumarikandam/lemuria (if you say its still not proved the time period of the kumarikandam will be enough to proove thhat tamil is the oldest) shows that even before shiv. Landed into himalayas (and all should know himalayas were formed due to the continental drift that destroyed kumarikandam) tamil was there.and guys try accepting facts and get over history all languages have firm base and they have evolved for ages and its not fair to impose forcefully laws that will supress the other be it gujrathi or Marathi or tamil all command equal respect and the people in the goverment should stop facusing on their language. If they fail to do so we the people have to atlest stop think and celebrate all the languages of OUR country and atlest learn to say HAIL INDIA in all of them.

Sanskrit is supposed to be the oldest Indian language, because all other Indian languages are born out of this. Every Indian language has at least 70% of Sanskrit in it. Take any language. The God names, the mantras, vedas, puranas, shastras, daily chants everything is Sanskrit. Every Hindu male and female names has Sanskrit origin. No one can deny that Sanskrit is the oldest language. Lots of medical terms contain Sanskrit and not Kannada, Telugu, Malyalam or Tamil. Eg word DIAGNOSIS--it s made of three words, DIA, GNO and OSIS. DIA and OSIS are Greek words, GNO is short form of GNAANA (sanskrit) Gnaan, Gyan means Knowledge. Diagnosis means OSIS means condition or disease in greek, having knowledge or getting knowledge about the condition is DIAGNOSIS, similarly there are lots of medical terms which has sanskrit mixed in it. Tamilians deny that tamil has no sanskrit word in their language, it s purely tamil, there is lot of sanskrit mixed in it. Telugu has extensively used Sanskrit words, eg: Bhojanam, sneham, premam, everything is sanskrit. Kannada also has mixture of sanskrit words. same with malyalam. sanskrit is God s own language, then obviously its from time immemorial, since birth of this earth, other languages came after that. Kannada is called mother of telugu, but telugu people wont accept this. Tamil has its own history. karnatakas borders were till ahmednagar in maharashtra, maratha warriors waged wars and killed people and drove away people and expanded their territory. But kannada inscriptions can still be found there. tirupati temple has tamil inscriptions on its walls. totally india is a hotchpotch of everything. there was hatred then, there is hatred now, and it will go on forever. no one is Indian, we are just what we are. everyone likes his own mothertongue. Thank you.

The "lost" language of Lemuria. Which existed in the Pacific Ocean just as Atlantis once existed in the Atlantic Ocean.
It will be easy enough to look this up at the Library.
Though psychic sources will be ridiculed, they say the Lemurians migrated to Easter Island and the
Indus Valley.
The Stone Heads on Easter Island are a memorial to that lost land, that fell into the sea after thousands of years of Earth changes and erosion. And then one final upheaval just like Atlantis.
The book I read on Lost Languages said there are actually 5 we still canot read. And 2 are almost
identical. One from Easter Island, and the other
the Indus Valley!
