Yes, in American English strippers are sometimes called "exotic dancers." But the word "exotic" alone does have anything to do with strippers.

Exotic means any living being whose features make them different from those, people in a country is used to see or handle with. Examples could be a peacock, an orchid, a Transcaucasia woman. Mostly referred as: a bird, a flower, or a woman of exotic beauty

When using "exotic" with "dancer" you are correct it has the meaning of stripper. However, as example you can use it with "exotic pets" which could refer to large snakes or other animals which are not common.

Hmmmmm exotic to me is women other than americans. Someone different than others. For example, this man like this woman, she is beautiful, just like the american female, but he likes this exotic one because she is different, the skin toned, etc. I'ved told I am exotic, and I am not a dancer either. So, everyone translate it different way.

I think we would you erotic first, but exotic is sometimes used to imply something is more sexy than normal. But if someone said something like "She's exotic" it doesn't mean they think you strip.
