I have migraines on a regular basis but now I have developed a completely new type of headache. I feel like I have brain freeze (like after you drink something cold even though I don't) and it usually last for a few hours. Also, I have been having severe pain above my left eye and it has been blood shot and my vision has been slightly blurry. I have no money to go see a doctor at the moment but these headaches are getting so bad I can barely function. Does anyone know what it could be or how to help???

I am aware that I do need to see a doctor at some point even though I am unable too right now but I do not believe they are severe enough to rush to the emergency room. I am not having one of the headaches right not. They come at random times during the day and they have only been going on for about a week. The main thing I would like to know is if anyone one else has experienced anything similar and how did they treat it.

This now sounds like a cluster headache worse that a migraine and may wake you from sleep
1. Take some Anti Inflammatory such as Aleve, Ibuprofen if your stomach can tolerate it. as a prophylaxis
2. You can alse get some excedrin migraine to take if you know when the headache is coming on.
3. Alcohol may trigger it in some persons
4. This headache may need to be treated with steroids such as prednisone for a few weeks

Headache Feels Like Brain Freeze

I have had similiar headaches - diagnosed with migraines. Before you go to a doctor, start making a journal of your headaches: exactly how you feel, where is the headache exactly, how long it has been going on, & any changes. If you go to a doctor, they'll probably want all this kind of information.... and won't do much of anything until they know EVERY SYMPTOM!!

Unfortunately, the emergency room will NOT do much; either!! So, keep that journal.

In the meantime, try EXCEDRIN MIGRAINE. A cold washcloth on your head in a dark room: rest. Also, you need to take into account that IF you are on any medications; they CAN be part of the problem!! As they were for me.

It could be a different migraine. I had migraines for years. After about 30 years, I had a different one. It lasted two weeks and it was not like the other one. It went away but even the best migraine meds didn't help (didn't take the shot however).

Since then it's been my regular migraines.

The bloodshot eye should be a concern. This could be serious.

Call up your health department and ask them where you find free med services.

Get yourself to any emergency room, no hospital can turn you away due to lack of insurance. Get your blood pressure checked..this may be the source of your headaches and bloodshot eyes..any nose bleeds as well? If you are African-American, and male, you are at a higher risk for high blood pressure.
Just do it!

Well...it might be a migrain. Have you been to your doctor about this? How long has this been going on? Umm.....I am not sure. But I do suggest that you go to your doctor about this if you haven't yet. If you have about how long ago was that? Maybe you should let him know that it is still going.
