Of all the diets I have tried, the low carb diet showed results but of course I didn't stick to it and gained the weight back. All body types are different and I've heard good and bad opinions about this diet. What do you think? I'm looking for long term results and need to lose weight.

Many people have had the same problem that you have-gaining the weight back after being on a low carb diet.

Have you tried a good carb diet like the South Beach Diet? The South beach diet is similar to a low carb diet but instead of doing away with carbs or seriously restricting them, you rely on whole grain products.

For example you would substitute 100% whole grain bread in your sandwiches instead of doing away with the bread. Right now almost any bread or pasta product comes in a whole wheat version. Whole wheat has a lower glycemic index so it doesn't spike your insulin levels (which is why white car products are so fattening). Whole wheat also makes you feel full longer so you are more satisified.

Don't just get any wheat product look for 100% whole wheat.

Just switching from white carbs to whole grains can make a big differance in your weight and your energy level. No matter which diet someone is on, the whole grain is always the better choice.

Please tell me you're watching your diet AND working out?!!! You need to do both, however, if you're doing the low carb diet, working out will be harder since your body requires carbs to burn for energy during the working out process.

I consider myself to be pretty fit. I workout throughout the week but always have to watch what I eat. While I'm not on a low carb diet, I do watch my carbs.

I am having trouble losing these last 5lbs so I contacted an Heralife distributor and am on this regimen now for a few months. Check it out, it might work for you. It's help me in the past.

I really all depends on your body. But, you should never cut anything totally out of your diet. low carb is ok no carb is bad, try just eating smaller portions of healthy foods

I'm with you i have tried it and lost weight. but as soon as i went back to some of my bad habits regained some of what i had lost. now I'm trying to lose, the only thing that gets in my way is bad habits like unhealthy snacks. i think in order for us to gain and maintain the weight we would like. is to get a control of our eating habits and make a conscious decision to stick to it. good luck to us both.
