When I am having a panic attack, I focus on my toes & just keep riggling wriggling them.
It is hard to do the two things at once. .....So there's sense prevailing simply because it really does take effort, taking your mind of the panic!
Hope it helps you too & anyone who reads & uses it!

Yes, I do, but the attacks are now ever so seldom. I have written to another regarding this issue. When an attack starts, I feel faint, a bit like wanting to run away, including heart palpitations. The method I use is to keeping talking to my self such as I'm okay, nothing is going to happen, and I pray that the Lord help me throut it. I have learned to breathe, deep inward breathes, and exhale slowly. If you breath in and out to fast, there's a possibility of fainting. I don't why people like us are fearful or anxious, but the way we feel is very real to us. My friend has panic attack while driving, she pulls over to the side of the road, and calls me. I am able to talk her down. Panic attacks are frightful, and can happen at anytime or place, but if you know even a minute or less in advance, you have the power to overcome. Just practice those two methods and see if it helps.

Social anxiety can cause these feelings, which can also lead to severe depression,
http://www.socialanxietyinstitute.org/ds...
if not you could be suffering from Generalized Anxiety
Disorder..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/general_anx...
There is hope; I've been there, and still am there, it is a long, hard struggle. I recommend
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cognitive_b... worked best for me, with mild anti-anxiety meds. I suffered from social anxiety for over 15 years. I've tried individual therapy, and group therapy and studied psychology for 10 years, as a profession, but also with the hope to cure myself.
Depending on your comfort level, you could go to a psychologist that practices CBT and specializes in anxiety disorders, seek a group therapy, or create one. Usually those that do attend the group therapy are a bit more high functioning because as you know, it can be difficult to speak in a group.
Another idea is to see if there are any local research studies being conducted that you could participate in.
The program that finally worked the best for me is this one: http://www.socialanxiety.us/findinghelp.... and I was lucky enough to have a structured behavioral group to go along with it. Sometimes the people that actually attend this program come back home and form groups.
I recommend a mild anti-anxiety med in addition to CBT therapy.
Any questions, let me know ... I can't tell you how much this has improved my life!

Go to http://deeplyrelax.com and learn and practice the method, so you will be prepared in case of future panic attacks. Practice for 20 mins daily the meditation technique at http://www.selfhelpmagazine.com Meditation room; try it out; mantra meditation; repeat: "easy", and repeat it in your mind whenever adverse events occur.

count backwards from 60-1 keep trying. if you can open a window or get fresh air. they say that carring a special sent, that makes you rember when you were a baby. or something will help but I didn't find one. the counting helped a little and the fresh air helped a lot. they say not to remove yourself from the situation but I think that is wrong.
