Overdose
Large doses of vitamin C can generally be taken without any problems, though some people may find that they have stomach problems with an intake of several grams a day. It is best to increase and decrease the amount taken gradually, as a sharp increase in vitamin C can cause diarrhoea, while suddenly cutting off a high daily dose can cause fatigue.

If you body is in stress you can take huge doses, I understand that up to 25g/day has been used by cancer patients, a fit person would get an ultra loose tummy at these levels. The general level for a cold is up to 1000mg 4X a day with food. But increase you water intake as well, & ideally you need Zinc up to 50mg a day when fighting a cold/.flue. All the oxalate (natuiral poision in food) in your system comes out at higher vit C levels, this is why the extra water is vital, -unless you fancy oxylate kidney stones!

vitamin C is water soluble so any excess that your body does not use will just pass through your system however over dosing on anything is a bad thing to do there is a recomended dose for a reason. excess vitamin C can give upset tummy, in the case of taking it in the form of a fruit juice bad breath as the body tries to nutralise the extra acidity.

There is really no point in taking over large doses of Vit C as the body does not and cannot store it. The excess is passed out as waste so little daily is the way to take it. It is an Acid (Ascorbic) so any over doses could cause you digestive problems, not perhaps now but will manifest itself in later life.

Normally most of the non absorbed is being rejected by your body in your urine within 24 hours, but recent studies have shown that the intake of higher doses of vitamin C will increase the risk of cancer. but we talk up to 10grams or more as some freaks tried. 1000mg / 1 gram per day is totally safe, even 2gr.

Yes, it is possible, but the amount of vitamin c you would have to take in is absolutely ridiculous. I think you would have to eat like 100 oranges a day for a year for it to happen.
What you have to remember is there is no point in taking more than 100% of your recommended intake of vitamin c. 200% gives you NO extra benefits to 100%.
You dont get any extra benefits at all. Just take in 100% of your RDA of vitamin c and no more, trust me, there really is no point in taking any more than this with vitamin c, there really are no extra benefits.

Professor Linus Pauling, got the Nobel Prize for his work with Vitamin C.
He took vast amounts of it every day and died at over 90yrs...
He said you should take at least one 1000mg Slow release capsules with bioflavinoids daily.
With food it won't effect your tummy.
Don't take it at night of you may not sleep.

yes, nothing major though can cause stomach upsets, abdominal cramping, diarrhea, otherwise just excreted out with urine. If you are a smoker, then you need to increase vit C. Some say if you take more when sick it will help, no scientific proof on that though.
