I try to get to the gym most days after school but i usually dont get alot of sleep. i have hockey practice until 11 every weeknight so i dont get alot of sleep. does this in any way affect muscle growth. i try to eat high protien food and a good diet

When you sleep your body has the chance to repair itself (among other things). When you exercise, especially weight train, you cause tiny tears in the muscle fibers which your body repairs and causes the muscle to "grow". So I would think that sleep plays a significant part in muscle growth.
