Any thorough tips to surviving 2 years in prison?

Obviously Im not looking to gain any friends, gang or anything of that sort. My question is, rather than what should I do while im in prison or what moral choices should I make for my future. My question is, How can I most likley survive a long time in prison avoding stab wounds and face slashes, most of all rape and death.

Should I make hits in prison? Is it a good way to earn respect, to be feared to some capacity? Should I mind my own bisuness and fight only when I need to? Should I fight all the time? Do I need to learn how to efficicently kill a man with a small object. Will it be apart of my daily life? Is fighting skills most important? Like I said, I want to survive at all costs. What sacrifices will I need in order to make in order to gain respect and be left alone. Being new and young in the prison is the hardest part. Thats when I will be tested the most and most dangerous time for me. I should defintly become larger?

I spent 20 months in prison in Oklahoma. It's our new industry! How to survive.............. well............. stay away from the trouble makers, guards are always watching them for sure. Be polite to everyone. When your not working with a shovel or pulling weeds for eight hours a day, stay on your bunk and read and read and read. Get a pair of ear plugs and block out all of he noise. It's very noisey in there. Depends on your crime, but if your not violent you will be around others that aren't violent. So keep your nose clean, be polite (at all cost) because respect is the only thing you have in there. Go to all the classes they have on - changing your life. Prison is tough and you have to be ready mentally to deal with it. And when you get out, you will get stressed out from going to WalMart. I read my bible everyday and it helped me cope with being incarcerated. Write a lot of letters. Yes, fights happen with that many people locked up together. Never, ever be the first one to throw the first punch. You will get into less trouble if you were only defending yourself. You will have to learn to ignore most people in there. Just be yourself and be ready for anything. Your stress level will be very high for the first three months or so. So watch your surroundings and watch others. It won't take long for you to figure out - who to stay away from. The food is gross and we had lunch meat that were stamped on the box, "For Inmate Consumption Only!" So,,,,,,,,, if you have people on the outside that can send you money to buy food it makes it easier. Because bartering is the money in prison. Then you will be able to get what you need and want. I feel bad for anyone going to prison, 20 months did a lot of damage to my 16 year old daughter, that lived with my parents while I was away. She had a lot of anger issues concerning my absence and I surely don't blame her. It was my fault and I committed the crime of forgery. It will harden you for sure. Just stay by yourself for awhile until you get the lay out of your new surroundings. Take care and I'll see on the outside! About becoming larger - only if you want to. Men in prisons, usually get buffed while in, but like I said, just watch and learn, and find someone that has been in a few times and they will give you the scoop on everything and you will learn very quickly on what to expect.

The answer depends on what type of prison. Hard core maximum, low security? . . .

I've worked with prisoners from both. Never had the experience my self. But in general: make good honest friends, develop a support group. Avoid sexual relationships as these can lead to dangerous situations. Take the time, to learn the culture and tolerate the staff.

Obviously you know little about prison, if you fight all the time, make "hits" you will just get charged with more crimes and spend longer in prison.
There are few fights, and even fewer murders or killing. And you don't gain respect, you leave that to gang members and carrer criminals.

You go in and just mind your own business, don't bet on anything you can't pay off, don't borrow and don't get involved. You just go in and leaave others alone and do your time

geeez judging from your questions i can say your in for a rough time,at least in the prisons i'm thinking about.normally 2 yrs should be a breeze if you go in with the right attitude which you clearly don't have cuz its your first time i'm guessing.i can also tell you this,if you do have a rough time you are not going to repeat becuz you will have learned an important lesson, which is "if you can't do the time don't do the crime". good luck.

You should support the victims / sufferers legally and in this way not only you will be saved but other innocent prisoners like you will also be saved from the brutalities and cruelties. You will get strength and you will be on the side for right cause.

It's hard for me to believe you are in prison, since you are on the internet and cons don't have access to the internet! So, hypothetically speaking, you need to survey your new environment and calculate what you are willing to give up and what you are not willing to give up. Then, negotiate the two.

Doesn't matter how big or bad you think you are. If you're not in with the right people you will be someones wife. They can and will hold your big bad self down and go to town on you.
Bring lots of salve and don't drop the soap in the shower youngblood....
