I recently had a freeview box installed and for a week it worked perfectly. I had a powerful ariel fixed onto the roof proffessionaly.
Since last night the digital picture has started to deteriorate. It gets darker and darker and then goes blank, after a few minutes I get a blue screen. I then switch over to analogue and the picture is fine, switch back to freeview and I get some sort of picture but very dark, The signal says its ok and I have jiggled and checked all the wiring. Apart from the freeview box being the prob, what else could it be?

Dont think its the ariel as I got a good one on the roof. The picture has been fine for a week so ariel works ok.

As I have already said, the ariel worked absolutely fine so nothing wrong with it I think, nor is it pointing in wrong direction

take the box and receipt back to shop and exchange it...
if your aerial is faulty, then you wont get itv or ch4 channels,
check your scart leads and replace if fault should re-occur

Sounds like the Ariel, if your Ariel has moved slightly you will lose the signal on digital TV only, you wont lose the signal on what i call "council TV" as your Ariel is still plugged in and going through the freeview box. It is actually the freeview box that is acting as a Ariel booster for your council TV. If you unplug the Ariel from the freeview box and put it back in to the TV you will find that your council TV has lost its signal. Your Ariel only has to be moved a couple of inches to throw your freeview signal When you get it moved back make sure the engineer tightens the fixings properly.

try this if it doesn't work at least if you take it back and they ask if you've tried it you can say yes. As has been said before first turn off the power, take out the scart lead that connects between the TV and cable box, and turn it round (the end in the box, put in the TV) with these problems it sounds like all 15 pins may not be pushed firmly in so ensure that all pins are in the holes ( they are easy to not line up, it should be tight when in place) leave off for about 10 mins then switch on-if not then as has been said it's broken-but do try this first. GOOD LUCK

We have the same problem, our freeview works just fine and then it will suddenly disappear. its such a pain and i live in london so i should get perfect signal. You may need to check that you live in a freeview area first of all, which im sure you checked first anyway. It may be something that is affecting your signal, someone may have something interfering with the reception. Also if you look at your ariel and compare it with others are they all facing the same way?

I would return the freeview box to the retailer, I trust you still have a receipt? I had one that lasted only a month and was hardly ever used, I then got a cheap one from Asda for £29 and it is still going strong.

I have a free view box to and have the same problems with it i also cant get any ITV channels on mine.
I went and brought a new aerial cable yesterday and installed the channels again it seems to be OK at the moment.
Still cant get ITV or channel four.
Check your cable again....If not then i dont know.. i dont think they are very good.

Try switching off the electric supply, wait a few seconds, and then switch on again. Or buy an ariel booster.

As has been said, unplug and leave for a short time, plug in and go through the first time installation procedure, this should sort it out,if not return to the retailer.
