Read the instructions.
With a permanent colour, you don't wash your hair. It has to be dry and relatively dirty to fully take the colour.
If you're using a semi-permanent colour, you should wet or wash your hair with shampoo, but DO NOT CONDITION it. Semi-permanent colours take better on wet hair.
But definitely read the instructions - each brand is different.

It depends on what type of color you are using. If you use a
permanent color, that has peroxide,it's not recommended. On semi permanent color, one light soaping can't hurt, dry hair with Little heat, and let hair cool before applying color,
or better still, wash your hair the night before.

On each and every bottle of hair dye you get it could have instructions interior. maximum I even have got here upon merely say be conscious to unwashed hair because of the fact when you die it you get in the bathe and wash your hair like the hair dye replace into the shampoo and that they often have some form of conditioner in the field as nicely. you do no longer might desire to attend an entire 24 hours although. in case you wash your hair in the morning and dye it around time for dinner you need to be fantastic. Or in case you bathe at evening then merely dye it any time for the duration of day after immediately. i rather like Garnier Fructis hair dye and that i pretty recommend it. Your hair would be great and sleek after wards and it works splendidly.

You can in an emergency. But it will probably be a little irritated and itch for a day or two.
The color will still take fine. And I don't think it will damage significantly unless you do this all the time.

In most cases, that's recommended (as with "Clairol Natural Instincts").
