why people are god fearing and not god friendly?

this is only a non muslim phenomenon a mis interpretation of the fear of God since no body is willing people to get it true meaning so that they can go wild
it actually means is to fear the account that we can be taken into if we would inflict our fellow human beings,if we become the reason of thier sufferings.God can not let us do what ever we want to do to satisfy our personal intersts.beause he loves all his creatures regardless of status a rich dont have the right to touble a poor for his good and if poor are helpless and resourceless people it does not mean that they can be exploited.
similarly there are many things that are forbidden by God so that we can be saved from harming our lives but we the un grateful people try to twist the truth just to serve our personal gains and those very short timed enjoyments that can lead us to disasterous end .

I believe that people are God fearing instead of God Friendly because he is our creator and in a sence our father. When you were little you were afraid of your father, weren't you? When you got in trouble you knew you would be punished. Well the same applies. He is our Father, our savior, and our best friend. He loves us when we worship and praise, but when we sin he will deliver our punishment as well. Still though. We should be more God Friendly. But always a little God fearing.

Friendship always between 2 of same need. Need of mine and God are not common in any way.
Friendship between known persons. We know nothing about God. We have to fear from big boss / great father / father of father / Dada. We should try to do good so that God has no anger for us. Man is a small drop in ocean. Friendship not possible.

You are wrong. There are two types of people.
One type , the sinners , who are afraid of their sins and knows that God may punish them for their sins , so they are the god fearing types. They are the lowest form of the human beings.
The other type are the god friendly people , who are always in love and presence of god . They are the highest type of people. We in India , have Rishis , who were jailed as dangerous persons and they had this god friendly experience in solitary confinement !
So , the morale of the story is , to uplift ourselves , we have to change ourselves from god fearing to god friendly human beings.

Everybody nearly agreed with your view and answered in their own nice ways (except a few striking discordant notes about religion itself as usual)...

But the element of love (call it friendship) is much in evidence in the Hindu path of Bakthi (love to God) while in the path of Gyaan (wisdom) and a third path called Karma (reaching divinity thru fulfillment of one's assigned Duty) there is neither fear nor friendship to God though there is love of fellow humanity in the last category... The path of wisdom is bereft of any feeling to either the created world or the Creator... it simply seeks to find the Truth (Godhood) in a detached manner, thru deep inquiry...

In religions like the Christianity and Islam, there is much emphasis on consequences of sinning, the day of judgement etc which evidently makes the followers fear God more than try to express friendship with the Almighty...

There is mention of consequences of sin (evil actions) in the Hindu scriptures also but the unlimited scope of redemption by the loving God is so much in focus that the element of fear is least..

But I am not sure if the Christian or Islamic insistence on good behaviour had helped them to achieve good behaviour in the average follower..

Man is man, whatever religions say... There are good souls as well as weak ones.. the theories of sins and punishments not withstanding... that's the fact..

Yet I would like to emphasise the Love of God thru love of humans and other life forms.. as the best way.. it is too positive... and one loving person can least harm any one... is it not?

There seems to be some misunderstanding of the meaning of fear of God. Fear of God means profound awe and wonder. I know God as a loving and comforting God, but I also feel profound awe and wonder. There is no conflict.

the fearful is abiding, the friendly is not.. i believe in God, his law and all his apostles but i do not love him (maybe one day this will change). i feel love for the vulnerable and the weak (that is human nature) but no love for the boss who is in charge and has everything, because i fear him. we are too impure to love what is greater than our comprehension. thats why God wants us to fear him first.
