I don't know about Brisbane but I know in U.S. there are some cities, like Des Moines, Iowa where the men are one to every 6 women. In Houston Texas the opposite is true: Six women to every one man. However those figures are 20 years old now, so may have changed. Do some research and go where the men are if you are looking.

On the other hand, you just have to "get out there" and get involved whether it be via taking on study (Uni, TAFE, short courses), taking on an interest or hobby where you actually meet up and share that interest with people, doing speed dating, joining an exercise group, having an online ad with RSVP or similiar site.
I've been single for far too long as well however that is thru choice not just circumstance.
In my personal opinion (and belief), you will find someone when you are totally comfortable and happy with yourself and your life. As has happened to me in the past with any relationships I have partaken. My belief is that if you can show the universe that you don't NEED someone (you aren't desparate) and that you don't mind your own company yet just want to share your life journey with someone .... and you aren't necessarily looking... it shall present you with someone.
Look at Steve and Terri Irwin. They're my inspiration. Steve was just doing what he was doing... following his passion and so was Terri. I bet he wanted a girlfriend yet he just kept himself busy and occupied with his life and work that the universe brought him Terri. (Or that is how I interpret it)

We can't find them in Sydney either. All the women here think they are hiding as well. So where are they??????
