Because when God created the world He wanted the people to have the different languages. It would be a dull world if we all spoke the same language. God wanted our world to be interesting! That is why He also created the different races, so we would have the different beautiful colors of our skin. Gods world is like a flower garden with an array of different colored flowers. And the music is our different languages!

at one time the whole world was of one language
then at the city of Shinar, when God put the spirit of confusion on all the people at the Tower of Babel because they were building the city and trying to build tall tower towards heaven to create their own salvation to get to heaven..
