Lots of good ones available, the best ones you have to pay for. One that works as good as most paid for ones and is free is AVG, as long as you keep it regularly updated.More important is ant-spyware such as adaware and spybot

well it depends

Norton is the world leader, it is the best protection, but it is very heavy and can slow the pc down very much. it is best for commercial, or office use.
for homme use or personal use i recommend McAfee, it is light and second best in the market,
the other antivirus i used r panda and Pccillin, so i cannot recomand any else antivirus as i only of of these,

That is a personal preference. I use AVG antivirus on all of my computers. I have never had any problems with it and it's free. I don't have to pay every year for the upgrades to Norton's or McAfee.

To see what the best AV program is you need to look at first, is it free or do you want to pay & the answer is that the AV programs you pay for are going to be a lot better than the one which are free or people would not pay for them.

Second you need to look at what test have been done, to see if the AV program your looking at scores high or low for AV detection & removal.

I used Nod32 voted the best AV program of 2006, it does all I require with the highest detection & removal rate.

I have been using Norton anti virus for quite awhile with no issues. If you don't want to pay, try AVG it is good too. It is a must that you update the software and get the bug list regularly, without which most software would not be effective. And yes you do have to run a firewall.. Zonealarm is pretty good at it. :)

This is a free anti virus program for windows and it's very good.
I tend to trust larger companies like AOL who has this porgram to download than smaller companies like AVG.
