nowadays USA seems to be very friendly with india. i can see lot of newspapers and article talking about nuclear deal between india and america. morover in every move now america includes india as its active partner. india is the only country in asia with caucasian origin. about 70 % of indians are basically from european and middle east origin(caucasian race) while 25 % from dravidians and rest 5 % from mongoloid race(asian look). is americas friendship with india is based of this reason as it might feel to have a caucasian partner in asia or it might feel that india will be the only force to compete with china in future so it might naturally ally with india to supress chinas domination. power is slowly changing its direction from west to east and america with its shrewd thinking would have thought to have friendship with a great power in asia and certainly india is one as it has great democracy with english speaking population and of caucasian origin. what will be outcome of this ?

umm lot of responses.. first thing in 1920 s to 1940 s US court accepted indians as caucasians and then the confusion started.as all the indians are not caucasians and as around 30 % of indian population belong to dravidian and mongolian . majority of indians belong to caucasians . around 3000 to 4000 years backs people from middleeast mainly from turkey ,persia ,arabs and west european people came and settled down in india. they married among themselves and rest of india and the new breed came. thats why u can see majority of reddish white colored people in north india. i guess USA inclination to india is mainly on active partnership basis.

You're an idiot- the original Aryans that were caucasian reside in a mountainous region you twit.
Indians are not Caucasians simply by the fact that they lack many of the typical features of a caucasian including slighter bone structure and they have far too much melanin.
America is friendly with India for trade and in part to gain sales for arms as it most likely will provoke some form of rivalry between China and Indiua (they have fought a stalemated border war previously).
Personally I think it is purely for pragmatic financial reasons.

China is far more clever in controlling exactly what form of foreign investment it recieves and as it is far better managed than India can pick and choose investors.
China by virtue of being far better organised and managed will be the power iof the region, wheras India will always be India- a hoghe-podge of thrid-world poverty and extreme wealth and endemic mismanagement.
I've visited both- China is literally decades ahead of India in every single aspect- economically, governance, militarily, public infrastructure, poverty elimination, education, sanitation, health and the gorvernment has a very fixed coherent vision on what they wnat the country to be. India is far too divided and diverse.
Compare Shanghai to Mumbai- the difference is unbelievable.

This is a really good question. Certainly, the US wants good relations with India for a number of reasons. India has already signed numerous trade pacts with China. Both China and India realize the powerhouse created while they are allied.(Keep your friends close, your enemies closer also comes to mind.) Having nuclear weapons and relative democracy, along with a very large English speaking majority, means the US must come to their table, rather than saber-rattle.(sabre?) Right now the Americans have things going fairly well; should relations between India and Pakistan sour however, for whatever reason, and we'll be just like a guy whose stilts become way too far apart. Not so good.

first of all the classification Caucasian has nothing to do with skin color. It all has to do with the bone structure, so even though east Indians aren't the same color as white people their bone structures are similar scientifically. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking Caucasian means skin color. The only reason they want to be friendly with India is so that 5 years down the road an invasion of India would take place. In the past the US provided "so called" extremist nations with weapons and money and now they are being bombed and called terrorists.

It is because a lot of them are well educated and our businesses want to do to the mid-middle class what they have done to the blue collar class by bringing them in or outsourcing to them to reduce middle class wages. Greenspan says this is an 'antiinflationary' measure, so you know. They are pretending it will decrease the growing gap between the rich and poor but all it will decrease is the gap between the middle class and poor - by making the middle class poor. This will not impace CEO salaries and will increase profits to big business and those who don't have to work but live off of their portfolios.

India is a great country and I wish it well. I even think there should be SOME increase in h1b visas while we DECREASE unskilled immigration and end illegal immigration. However, there is a plan here that business is just rubbing its hands together in glee over. "Skilled labor in the US is more expensive than in other countries and reducing this cost will be anti inflationary" or words to that effect is what Greenspan said. It sent shivers down my spine.

Wages are already the smallest portion of Gross Domestic Product since World War II, per the Fed. So much for supply side economics and the trickle down theory. That was for days when the gaps between executives and workers weren't so great and profits weren't worshiped at the expense of Corporate loyalty to employees. Those days appear to be gone, and corporation natural loyalty seems to need to be enforced by protectionist laws.

My opinion.

Most Americans don't understand race from a genetic standpoint and do not consider Indians and Europeans to be racial similar. On average, Americans are more racially comfortable with Asians than Indians. The closer relations are due to economics and democracy. We have very close relations with South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan for similar reasons. Our relationship with China is also strong and growing stronger. Our strongest relations are with Canada and Mexico.

As you can see from some of the responses Race is not a genetic issue. It is a emotional and historical issue. Arabs, Persians, Indians, and Australian natives are all genetically Caucasians (or were considered so when I studied Anthropology in the 1970s). If you really want to start something, point out that Christ was a Rabbi, and would have looked allot more like Anwar Sadot (sp?) than Tony Blair.

America only cares about the colour of money. Relations are stronger with countries that have a democracy, like India.

What a strange twist, I thought it was the other way around. Can people in India easily adapt to speaking Chinese?

Um, Indians are Caucasians???? Do Indians look white to you? Perhaps you need glasses? They have eye doctors in America and India. Perhaps you should see one?
Stop trying to cover your mistake. Never at any time were Indians considered Caucasian. Americans know how to read a dictionary, and the difference between Caucasian, and non-white.

Indians are hard working, law abiding, and don't try shoving their culture and religion down people's throats. They also conform and fit in and don't require Hindi all over other countries as the Mexicans do with Spanish. Chinese are also like this and fit in well here.
