Search past questions. This gets asked at least once a week. There is a ton of info already out there for you.
Make sure to get lessons though. Some beginners think that skiing is an easy sport to learn. It is, with the guidance of an instructor.

Im going skiing too in a fortnight =)
So far i have:
Ski jacket
Salopettes (ski trousers)
2 pairs of gloves
A Bobble hat
Goggles
Glasses
Suncream (need special stuff)
Thermals
Fleeces
Snow Boots
You may want a helmet, but its not neccesary.
