Hey, I'm planning on starting a fitness schedule next week. I'm already thin and happy with my weight but I just want to tighten my body and stay healthy. I want to include jogging, pilates and aerobics in the program. I was wondering if anybody knows the time I should dedicate to each of these activities to have better results, like how many hours/week should I do each? I'd appreciate any input! Thanks!

My regimen includes weightlifting, aerobics, and Pilates equipment sessions. I consider each to be essential, and each to help reinforce the other 2. Consider them a triangle of wellness, perhaps. I'm sure you've heard that the major reason people quit fitness programs is that they try to do too much too soon. So you might want to consider easing into the thing. In any event, my lfting and aerobic are each about 40%, stretching another 10%, and Pilates 10% over a weekly period. You can do Pilates 7 days a week, safely with a certfied instructor, but Pilates doesn't generally burn as many calories as aerobic exercise does. Hope this helps and good luck with the program!

For best results in Pilates, you should consider devoting at least an hour per session twice or even three times weekly. I would suggest you fill in the other days a week with either aerobics or jogging (not both) so you won't get bored. Plan on jogging for at least 20 minutes at your target heart rate for best results. If you have anything like "Pump" classes where you are or spinning, those are great too. Whatever you do, be sure to give yourself a day off. Good luck!

Do Pilates a couple of times a week and add cardio into other days of the week - things like jogging, walking, swimming, riding a bike. If you need to learn about Pilates go to www.pilatesbenefits.net
