I have a very low UCAS point score, but despite this, I have since managed a 2:1 in a BSc degree & a merit in an MSc degree. I want to apply to big jobs but have to lie about my UCAS points and hope they never ask for proof of my results. Can any companies find out my actual score for themselves without asking me through my school or UCAS? Does the data protection act come into this?

firstly, don't lie about anything it will no doubt in the end come up at some point in your career.....if your UCAS points are relevant to your job you may need to provide your employer proof of them.

I don't think employers can find out your UCAS points unless again its relevant to your job, but if your going to need those ucas points to take on more education through your employer & the course you will be doing requires higher points than you actually have, then they will find out!

If the jobs you are applying for require a specific amount of points, then you need to tell the truth about how many you've got....its very rare to find an employer who employs on the basis of ucas points.....its usually based on qualifications & experience!

As an employer, I am not interested in your UCAS points, only what you managed to achieve at University. And if I was your second employer, I would not even be looking at your degree, but at what you had achieved in your first job.
I have never seen an application form which asked for a persons UCAS points.

Nobody asks for UCAS points or checks for them. The reason being is that the employers that want to know will simply ask for your A-Levels certificates and calculate them out. If this is your first job and they ask you about points or A-Levels, assume they will check because there is a good chance they will.

They cant view your UCAS points without your permission. Though if you get the job, it might be subject to conformation of your degree and A-level results.

Why not just not put them on your CV and application forms... Under Education just put in your degree result and MSc.
However you can't lie if they do request them as you'll probably have to show them the original certificates... you never know when they might require them!

It depends on the kind of company I guess.. some are more interested than others.
