Chuck Hagel is using this approach, but the Fascist right are even defaming his actions. The GOP is ruined right at the moment and I don't see any redemption in the party anytime soon.....maybe the party will disband like the Whigs party.

The 2008 election is a long way away. A lot of things can happen between now and then to the candidates. It won't really matter about party as much as ideas, at least that is all that should matter.

The next election will not be about Bush as he will not be running. It amazes me that Democrats cannot understand this basic fact. It may be about the war which may still be occurring. The majority of people can understand the difference between people and will reflect on the solutions being offered by the different candidates who are actually running to make a decision regarding who to vote for. Hardcore Republicans are not going to vote for Democrats anymore than hardcore Democrats are going to vote for a Republican. The deciding factor in Presidential elections is the moderate factor. Most moderates do not allow themselves to be driven by the partisan rhetoric from either side. No matter what occurs with Mr. Bush, no matter who distances himself from him, the Republicans have as a good a chance in the next election as the Democrats. You can look for reasons the deny this fact all you like, but the facts are not going to change. Additionally, you are not going to have Republican candidates looking for support from Bush anyway.

i wonder what percentage of ppl vote AGAINST instead of FOR someone ... i believe local elections will still determine all the players leading up to the BIG House based on issues. sick as ppl are of the Republican hi-jinx ... the BIG House will be determined by who IS or IS NOT on the Democratic ticket. let's see whose name gets that nomination. let's hope it doesn't end up a battle between the lesser of the two evils.

in real life the Emperor's New Clothes scenario doesn't happen. ppl go to their graves in staunch denial. Bush was just a puppet anyway. who cares if a puppet's underwear is seen? it was just another distraction for Joe Q Public.

idiot or idiot savant? he made money for all the right ppl .. which btw, did not include all the Joe Q Public Republicans that voted him in office. trickle, trickle, trickle ran dry. maybe he wore the best suit of clothing? does looks better than what Joe Q Public has been forced to wear.

It is possible- but as long as they can field a viable alternative candidate- and I mean way better than Rice, Cheney, Clinton, Obama, etc.

One who is very much a traditional Republican and Federalist and not a warmongering, corporate Ho- should get plenty of votes, in my view.

It depends on what they renounced him for. I'd renounce him for the war....but only in the since that he wasn't forceful enough.....I would renounce him on his stance on immigration. I would condemn him on his stance on the jailed law enforcement personnel.

With our society not yet ready for a woman or a black man, unfortunately, I think so. Frankly, I'm voting for whichever Democrat comes out of the primaries on top.

I dunno about that.

They'd pee off the people that are hard-core right-wingers and possibly lose their votes. Not that they'd vote Democrat....they just probably not bother voting at all.

As for the ones that are fed up with Bush government, they'd probably get a split vote. Half would be relieved and vote for a republican and half would think too little too late and vote democrat.
