Female baldness does occur, though it is less common than for men, and the causes and symptoms are different.

First of all, we have to determine which tipe of baldness you're talking about. There are several types, the most common are Male Pattern Baldness (Androgenic Alopecia) Alopecia Totalis and Alopecia Areata.

Alopecia areata is thought to be an autoimmune disease in which the body mistakenly treats its hair follicles as foreign tissue and suppresses or stops hair growth. It is not contagious but may be hereditary—there are a few recorded cases of babies being born with congenital alopecia areata, the same for Alopecia totalis. It means that both, men and women are succeptible to this condition.

on the other side androgenic alopecia is caused by testosterone in its most active form 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone, meaning that the male population (because they have more testosterone than women, yes women have Testosterone produced by the suprarrenal glands) have more chances of having this male pattern baldness, over time, the hairline recedes to form a characteristic "M" shape. The pattern of hair loss in women differs from male-pattern baldness. In women, the hair becomes thinner all over the head, and the hairline does not recede. Androgenetic alopecia in women rarely leads to total baldness.

So both men and women go bald.

Where have you seen or heard that? Women can be as bald as a man, the different is the way of the hair. You should see pictures in one of these clinics as Pedrin of Miami.

Its a gene thing. The bald gene is recessive in woman, so it only effects the men.

b'coz the gene responsible for the male pattern of hair , and hence for baldness , is situated on the Y chromosome , hence females don't get bald like men do.

Because the gene which causes male pattern baldness is resessive in women, not dominate.
