You might want to explore how telecommunications technology has given our society (or yours perhaps, not sure if you're American) the ability to be much more in touch with what is going on in the rest of the world politically, etc. How computer technology has changed the way a lot of kids (and adults) spend their time, how medical technology has increased the lifespan of many of those in technologically advanced societies, and the effect this has had on population size, impact on natural resources, the Social Security system, etc. You could touch on how automotive technology has created environmental problems and modern phenomena such as road rage, etc., etc. and how cell phone technology has created a whole new breed of drivers who are very unsafe because they cannot talk on a cell phone and drive simultaneously. I don't know, there are a lot of ideas. That might be part of the problem, choosing which of many different ways you could approach writing such a paper, if you let your mind go, i don't think you'll have trouble coming up with ideas.
Every body has a different way of writing, but sometimes i just do what i'm doing with you...throw a whole bunch of ideas out there, put them on paper or your computer word processing program, see which ones have more promise than others, etc. Like a sculptor starting out with a huge hunk of stone and then removing what gets in the way of the artistic idea(s) he or she is trying to convey. Find something that moves you...if you hate "cell phone drivers",for example, i'm sure you could find enough info on the Internet to write a paper on the problems that have been created by some peoples' abuse of that particular technology. Go with where your passion lies, that's really important

You need to find a library with this magazine: http://www.thenewatlantis.com/ it is a quarterly journal devoted to science and technology issues and their relation to social and political affairs. This one, Journal of

Educational Technology & Society, found here electronically: http://www.ifets.info/ is just about technology changes in education and society, but it may have some articles that are good jumping off points to get you started.

Or, try this one: http://www.w3.org/TandS/
