If you've read the instruction pamphlet and followed directions and it STILL doesn't work....

Some girls/women have a cervix that's a little different and sticks out a little further or tilts. Don't push the tampon in and up.

Instead, push it straight in till your fingertips touch, then tilt it downward and push it completely in. Make sure the cardboard applicator doesn't get caught on itself.

You may also want to use Tampax Lites (less painful) and change them every hour.

Tampons just take practice to get the insertion part right. First of all, you can't really insert one if you are not on your period. Then, you have to relax to get it in place. If you are uptight and nervous, the muscles will contract and you won't be able to insert one at all. Tampons also come in a variety of sizes, and since you are new to all this I assume you are still young. They make a small slender variety, and that might be your best choice to start with, or a brand called OB, which do not use an applicator. When my daughters were ready to try, I purchased a box of both the slender variety and the regular absorbancy OB. Then I told them to just practice, using the entire box if needed. You can try several different positions to insert them, just try them until you find one that works for you. There are inserts in the boxes to show you, and most of the companies have on the web sites that will also explain things if you have questions. The other thing is to discuss this with your mother. She is the best person to help coax you through this, and also would be the best person to ask advice from. You may find after all this you are just not able to use them yet, and that is okay too. My eldest daughter was almost 17 before she could use one comfortably, and my second daughter is able to at 14, but only the slender variety. My youngest daughter is not interested in them yet. So ask your mom for help, and accept that you may or may not be able to use them just yet. But for starters, relax and practice.

hi dear, use small size tampons with applicator, Tampax Perl for instance that have a plastic slide-in system easy to use
and hygienic on top. use a small amount of KY
vaginal moisturizer that you'll easily find in your local pharmacy in an inexpensive and handy bottle (2.5oz).
apply the gel around the 'entrance' of your vagina and not
on top of the tampon or it will swell and not come out of the
plastic tube. put a towel on the floor to sit on, lay back against the wall. remove tampon from plastic wrap, put a tiny bit of the gel on and relax your stomach muscles, try to slite
applicator in and than push the tampon out without pulling.
that should put it right in place, gently pull applicator out.
never leave tampon in over night. all the best.
