Because they're small and they scurry?
I suppose it's all from the times before Cats were completely domesticated, and people owned semi-wild cats, which had to completely fend for themselves. The rats and mice were the only things in surplus that the cats could catch.

ok, i became extremely hoping i does no longer would desire to submit on right here, yet after analyzing in the process the solutions, i think i'd desire to. a million. Get sonic mouse traps. it incredibly is almost a sprint field that lures the mouse or rat in and kills it with sound waves. We used it as quickly as we had a mouse concern because of the fact it became risk-free to apply around our 2 cats, and that's going to be risk-free to apply around your son. 2. you will would desire to undertake an older cat. Kittens require a marvelous type of interest, and albeit you only won't have time with a a million year old interior the abode. additionally, by ability of having an older cat from a shelter you would be matched up properly. a lot of those cats have been fostered and that they comprehend if the cat gets alongside with toddlers. some cats only are no longer perfect for a house with youthful toddlers. 3. don't get a cat only so it could kill your mice/rats. Many cats only torture them and then leave their mangled ineffective bodies for you, they do no longer eat them. A sonic seize may be greater sanitary. it may be super on your son to advance up with a cat, yet you will desire to extremely think of approximately in case you certainly desire a cat and all that is going alongside with them such because of the fact the attention they require and vet care expenses.

they dont hate them, they like to play with things, its not just food source as even a well fed cat will chase mice...mice/rats and birds move and cats like to chase them..after theyve killed them they soon lose interest.
if you wave a bit of string or roll a small ball around, cats will chase it.Its the same thing, is all to do with the movement.Obviously theyre not stupid enough to try chase something bigger than themselves like a dog
some experts believe that cats are autistic, maybe finding out more info about that will lead to understand cats behaviour more...not that im saying people with autism chase mice...im just talking characteristics

They don't hate them they just see them as moving food. Its natural instinct as cats are predators, mice, rats and other small birds and animals are just part of the food chain below them.
