when i first booted my computer the shortcut signs on my
desktop were lovely. google was a big blue G.yahoo was red and so on.now its just a internet explorer sign.please help get back my old shortcut sign thanks

I have that same problem, and it seems to be at random. I have come to the conclusion thats its just an unavoidable flaw in XP(you do have xp, right?), and there's really nothing much to do about it. What sometimes works is to delete the shortcut, go up to favorites, delete it from that list, than go to the site again, and add it to favorites again, and then the desktop again. That seems to work about 30 or 40% for some of the icons. It sucks, I know!! Also, if you select a different icon from the really dull, bland list of icons that Windows has so graciously given us, it seems to not do that so much.(right click, properties, change icon.). You can also download icons from the net, and they're a hell of alot more creative than the windows icons, in my opinion.
