i have had my male dutch rabbit for about 9 months now and the last few months he jumps around going really out of control for a few seconds banging into things around him and then when he stops, he gets a bleeding nose and pants really fast and goes really floppy and doesnt move for a while until he comes right again. today he was in a basket and he just went silly and banged against my bathroom door and then my bedroom door and fell to the floor. it looks like he has a fit. whats wrong with him???

The running around and flopping down is normal, but the nose bleeding is NOT. We had a bun that would get nose bleeds and the vet could never figure it out. You could do some research here: www.medirabbit.com

I'd get the bunny to a rabbit savvy vet as soon as possible.

i would see a vet.
rabits can get ear infections, upper respiratory infections or dental disease that travels to the brain.
Does the rabbit graze outside, or does his bedding come from anywhere it may have contact with raccoon feces. there is a parasite called baylisascaris procyonis (the racoon roundworm) that is know to cause neurologic problems in rabbits and other speces.
Also some rabbits can be infected with a parasite called encephalitozoon cuniculi which can also cause seizures.
Rabbits, like other animals can also have epilepsy.
Other causes of seizurs include head trauma, tumors and metabolic diseases.
Good luck

well that is normal in rabbits it just means they are happy. but i would say to keep your rabbit out of pain you should keep him in a room with soft toys or something soft on the walls an doors. also i would take your rabbit to the vet, becausee there may be a chance he is blind. if he is that might also explain the going crazy ,becaus he is scared.
(if you have anymore questians e-mail me)(i am a rabbit breeder)

Bleeding from his nostril may be a variety of issues, specifically inner harm. yet there are vets who will take in animals got here upon on the line ingredient. look in the telephone e book for after hour vets (Emergency Clinics, Humane Society/Animal look after etc...) and/or call your interior of sight police branch and ask them what to do and the place you are able to bypass.

strange - sounds like a seizure. my dog growing up had them. to be safe id take it to a vet - your not likely to find a cure or a succesfull treatment on here. Good luck with your rabbit hun.

Not to be a pessimist, but have a box ready. Or see a vet.
