Is important to stop global warming? We all know it is, but the issue of global warming is not considered a major issue by the US government. Why do you think so?

It's not that I don't believe in Global Warming. I don't believe it is because of Humans.

It is the course of a natural cycle that we cannot stop. Our best bet is to prepare for it, not waste our time and money in prevention.

The only good coming out of Gores fictitious theory is that we are accelerating alternate fuel sources.

Most people agree global warming exists. Where we definitely disagree is whether Man has anything significant to do with it.

For a long time the global warming religious zealots were stifling true discussion about this issue...it was just shut up and believe what we say. But thankfully, more and more scientists are speaking out AGAINST global warming as a man made phenomenon.

Since there is a growing body of evidence that says global warming is primarily a natural occurrence, we would be naive to think there is much, if anything, we can do ABOUT it. What we should be discussing is how to adapt to it.

An inconvienent truth that most global warming proponents will not tell you is that to completely stop global warming they will have to stop flatulence world wide first. This would be an enormous undertaking to try to bottle up the farts of billions of people before their methane escapes into the earths atmosphere.

Most sensible people in the US realize this and do not consider it to be a major issue.

Global warming is just a ploy by the liberals so that people can't see they have no real ideas or policies about anything except the eradication of free thought and destroying America.

I personally don't believe in global warming so it's a non-issue for me to fight for it. I am much more concerned with illegal immigration and more important issues.

Scientists have recently predicted that we could see affects in 80 years, not in 3 generations as Debi stated.

The gov't has come as close as it has to acknowledging the affects ever by placing Polar Bears on the watched list. It most likely be an election issue for the next president.

Why not go green if it is safer, cheaper, and better for you? Why take an unnecessary risk?

No it's just another scare tactic dreamed up to make people afraid. Other examples include the ridiculous allegations of Bush reviving the draft, vote democrat or black churches will be burned down. The dems feel that their base will not vote unless scared into it.

Yes it is a major issue.
The simple answer is money, jobs and vested business interests.
If the US admits it- it may be feasible for poorer nations to start prosecuting the US for destroying their land (as the US is the current largest polluter).
The fossil fuel and power industry is a massive employer and government tax and campaign contributor, as are every other industry attached to petrochemicals (think plastics, cars, basically everything).
Furthermore nuclear is seen as a negative political liability so few support it publicly.

However, on an industrial and State government level- I think the tide is beginning to turn and many US companies are voluntarily becoming greener, states are emphasising green solutions and consumers are voting with their wallets- so I don't see it all as doom and gloom- but we certainly need to prod the incalcitrant vested interests into action.

The green economy has the potential to be massive- we just need to convince more people to get on board

Man made global warming is a farce. It is just the latest way to try to suck the wealth from the US to redistribute it to the third world. It is just another way to expand government and tax us more to "save us". Get a grip on reality. Since when do we control nature?
