If you live in a subdivision, then you can mow grass. Start out at about $25 per yard including edging and blowing. Get you about 4 yards and you will be able to clear $$$ by the end of summer.

If you have good grades, try to tutor others.

Jobs

There are many ways you can earn money. I babysit and I get paid very well. But I think you have to be 13-14 to start.

My Rates

1-2 kids ~ $5.00/hour
Each additional child ~ $1.25/hour

*When you are babysitting a baby under 10 months old, you should ask to be paid a bit more than your regular charge, since you must give more attention, change the baby, feed the baby, and put the baby to bed.

Another Idea is to have a bake sale/ lemonade stand. Me and my sisters baked all week, made poster signs and decided how much we should charge for each baking good. Any age is perfect for this job!

Another good job is to start a walking dogs for neighbours that have dogs. You can either put up posters around town, or hand out fliers to people you know that have dogs. I would charge 5 dollars per dog.

Another good job is to wash cars, or open a car wash business with friends for a few days, mow the lawn, shovel drive ways in the winter, and help people clean there house that might need help.

If are 14 years or older, you could also work at fast food restaurants, or grocery stores too.

When I was 14, I was able to work full time all summer through a youth employment program. Try calling your local govt or community agencies to see if any exist in your neighborhood. You can also try "mom & pop" businesses that may need extra help. Ask your parents or other adults in your life if they know anyone who has there own business and see if someone will hire or mentor you. My daughter started working in my wife's cleaning business at 13. Be open minded and be creative.

K.B. Get your lawn mower and edger out. Canvas the neighborhood and ask people if they want you to mow their lawns. Charge a set rate. i had a friend who did that with their dad every summer when I was your age. They made pretty good money. But they also worked their but off 5 days a week from sun up to sun down. Set schedules and plan ahead. You'll get repeat business and then you'll start having things lined up for the upcoming week. Plus you keep everything you make. Except for cost you spend. Good luck kid!
