Yes, rape is a problem across the globe. But, why in India is the family, the police, and the courts all against the girl from standing up and revealing the rapists?

Why do ideals of family status surpass a woman's need for safety and security?

That's not the only country where it happens. Most country's that relegate women to second or third class system, particularly wherein there is corrupt gov't/police force see that happen.

There are some belief systems that actually blame the woman for getting raped, like it was her fault. I have never been able to understand this. Where did anyone get the idea of treating women as so inferior? It really amazes me.

Because women are still viewed as chattel (i.e. property). That is definitely the case in many parts of Pune!
