If your alarm doesn't chirp when you arm and disarm, then it is probably in "valet" mode. Often the LED light will stay on and won't flash in this mode.

Different alarm manufacturers have different methods of turning valet mode on and off, so check your alarm's user manual or call the shop that installed it. If it's a Directed family alarm (Viper, Python, Hornet, Sidewinder, Avital, Clifford, and others) then valet mode is turned on and off in the following way:
--open a door and leave it open
--put your key in the ignition and turn it on (not started, just on)
--turn the key off again
--press and release the valet switch

If you don't know where your valet switch is and can't find it, take it back to the install shop and ask them to show you. That's something you NEED to know with any alarm.

Since it is newly installed take it back to where the alarm was installed and have them take a look at it. It could be as simple as a disconnected siren wire or a faulty unit.
