If it's not smoking it might be a leak - worth checking, stopping that might solve the problem. Failing that, have a browse of the shelves in Halfords, there are many products which claim to help.

Hi

If there is no blue smoke then the chances are it is perfectly normal, otherwise you could have an oil leak somewhere.

Zetec engines need the exact right oil or they do not perform as they should due to the sensitive hydraulic tappets fitted to the engine and therefore I would recommend that if you add anything to the oil it should be SLICK 50 oil treatment or you could wind up with tappet problems as well as an oil leak!!

You need to ask a garage to perform a 4 gas emissions test to clarify the level of hydrocarbons being thrown out of the exhaust. This will ascertain as to whether or not you are burning oil.

My second oil change using Valvoline High Mileage, has cut my "cold start blue smoke" in half, i recommend using a motor oil that is made to help extend the life of it and recondition the seals and gaskets and so on.

I also recommend you use the same oil from now on and on a regular maintenance basis...this will help...

As for the Additive, i don't use them and cannot recommend one at this time...

Best wishes!

well ,there are a vast number but richard petty has always recommended STP . personaly i would rather do regular services using a good quality oil such as castrol or valvoline than rely on the additives

walmrt has a thing called "stop smoke", which I have used and it works, but its not a permanent fix.
