Weight is a force and is measured in Newtons.
It is proportional to mass, which is measured in kilograms.

The weight of an object is defined as the force of gravity on the object and may be calculated as the mass times the acceleration of gravity, w = mg. Since the weight is a force, its SI unit is the newton.

For an object in free fall, so that gravity is the only force acting on it, then the expression for weight follows from Newton's second law.

Because weight is a type of force, and force is measured in Newtons.

A Newton is just a named that the inventors of the SI system (the French) came up with to honor the discover of calculus and physics as we know it today.

In the English system, weight is measured in pounds because forces are measured in pounds. The actual English unit for mass is the slug.

Weight is not 'Mass'. It is a measurement of the gravitational force acting on an object.

Force is the rate of change of momentum. The product of mass and velocity of an object is momentum.

Earth's gravitational force is acting on a object and it results as the gravitational momentum. the rate of change of gravitational momentum is gravitational force. The gravitational force is Weight.

Weight is a force thats results from the action of gravity on matter.

The unit of the force is newton. So the weight is measured in newtons.

weight is the gravitional force acting on an object. the greater the force pulling th eobject towards centre of earth, the heavier the object. the reason why the unit for weight is because, sir isaac newton realised that the force which holds the moon in around the earth gravity, only an inverse square law of gravity the motion of objects on earth and the moon, therefore in order to honor this great scientist they named after him, it's not necessary the unit of weight to be newton (N), sometimes it can be in kgms^-2 (derived from the formula F = ma or F = mg)

Because weight is a force . It is the force of attraction on the mass of the object due to earth's gravity. Since Force = mass x acceleration and the acceleration of gravity is g = 9.8 m/s^2 the weight of an object of mass m is W = 9.8 x m newton
