The 2 engines have their engine mounts in different spots. The one in my car (1953 Chevy 2 Door) has the engine mounts around the centre of the side of the block. It is connected to a powerglide tranny. The engine I wish to put in (a 235) has its mounts at the very lower front point of the block. Can I use this motor and connect it to the original poweglide? Will there be a problem with the mounts being so far forward on the block? Will there be too much weight due to the positioning of the mounts on the new engine (at the front) compared to the old way, which are more centred? Will there be too much stress on the bolts holding the tranny to the engine?

you have a truck engine , you will need to make up a front chassis mount and install the engine at the same angle as the original , if not it will stress the rest of the drivetrain too much , good luck .

you should be able to fit the engine mounts to where they should go , most manufactures build a number of different locations around the block , some of the Holden
( Australia's General motors branch )engines between models were a good example , different models having different sumps etc: while the basic blocks where the same with some engine mounts being different . but there are some exceptions , i have come across a Chrysler industrial 6 that looked identical the the automotive version but the engine mounts were completely different , it wouldn't fit .

most of the older chevys blocks have holes drilled for the different locations if not the front mount should work
