For my best friends wedding present i am paying for their honeymoon to the blue mountains, new south wales, australia. Do you know of any decent places to stay for a honeymoon? They only want to go for 2 or 3 nights, and i dont wanna spend more than $700aus. Thanks in advance.

to votehowardout ( and I will) I live in Sydney and we love escaping to the blue mountains, it has much more to offer than the obvious tourist attractions you mention.

Leura is charming, but pick the little towns not the obvious ones like katoomba (too touristic).

the hydro-majestic was a disappointment for us, highly priced with not much to justify it.

a little cabin tucked somewhere in the mountain would be ideal for lovebirds.

I hope to god they're not actually from NSW because that would be a really boring honeymoon, no offence. I hope that they won't be too excited about going sightseeing - once you've see the three sisters and gone to Echo Point and shouted "Coeee" there isn't much else to do, unless you want to go for a drive down to Penrith or Mount Druitt which would be very exciting!! (and scary)
Be aware that every school on the east coast of australia has school excursions to the Blue Mountains for primary schoolers so they should be prepared for that.
If thats the kind of thing they like, you might be better of sending them to some romantic SECLUDED place in the Hunter Valley or south coast hinterland. Just a thought. Even the Snowy Mountains which is very nice when it's not winter.

What a lovely idea. I would avoid Katoomba but there are some good resorts in the Blue Mountains. There is one at Leura I have stayed at but can't remember the name. Perhaps the most famous is the Hydro-Majestic Hotel which has a reputation as a romantic getaway. They have a website here http://www.hydromajestic.com.au/
Otherwise I would hunt through the yellow pages for hotels in the area to check prices http://www.yellowpages.com.au

Well, Mommy, try www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au under recreational services.
Plenty of cosy cabins, self contained. These cabins are around Aus$300-00 per week or Aus$44-00 per day for 2 people.
