I'm female so I'm probably not the best one to answer this but......From what i hear, you are supposed to shave downwards first, then upwards. I know for sure that ingrown hairs take a long time to form. Maybe a week or more. The redness on your cheeks is probably caused from irritation. You either didn't soften up the hairs enough before shaving, you didn't shave downwards first, or you shaved too closely, shaving off too much of the skin. Maybe even all of the above.

Exfoliate with a gentle exfoliant. If you don't know what this is ask your mate or a lady at CVS.
It'll go away, but it'll heal faster if you exfoliate.
I don't know who put me down as a bad answer, but they probably don't know what they are talking about. I deal with ingrown hairs every DAY and exfoliating is the only way to get the hair to come to the surface faster and not have it stay under the skin creating red bumps. It is ABSOLUTELY NOT true that ingrown hairs take weeks to form. They can form almost instantly. When you shave you shave off a very very fine layer of skin. When it heals back over the short hair underneath gets stuck under the skin and has difficulty breaking through. Irritation yes, the irritation of an ingrown hair. i.e. hair under the skin causing irritation.

I would forget about it and move on to a different razor, OR you could buy an electric shaver, they're good as well. Use moisturizer to calm the face down.
Hope this helps

ouch. well i'm not a guy so i cant relate. but ouch.
they do sell this cream to use so to prevent ingrown hairs... but i doubt that you'd be shaving upwards after this... so maybe wait it out and talk to some of your friends and ask them maybe.

Awww...u poor thing...don't do that again if you get ingrown hairs...try an ingrown hair treatment that should help, they don't completely get rid of ingrown hairs but they minimize them and that itchy burning feeling....good luck! :)
