A cot is just a minature bed, make it up the same way.
Fitted, non fitted , blankets,
You might not need the non fitted sheet for a baby though.
I only ever had a sheet then blankets

I would but a waterproof cover on the mattress first, them the fitted sheet, next the flat sheet but at the bottom of the cot. Approx the length of the little one up to the neck, you put the sheets down the bottom of the cot to stop the little one from pushing up-ward and crushing or putting pressure on their little fragile heads, while they are asleep, against the cots bed head. After the flat sheet the blanket and tuck in under the mattress. You will have a lot of flat sheet and blanket left over so wrap it under so it heads for the other end and this will be more comfortable for the little one.. no lumps ... good luck... and best wishes, you lucky mum..

Hi. I use 2 fitted sheets on the mattress, 1 over the other, and my son sleeps in a sleeping bag. He started kicking his covers of from about 3 weeks old, and never stopped!!
However when I made his bed (I am still pushing for the baby sleeping bag! No bed making for you in the morning!) I used the 2 fitted sheets, 1 flat sheet and depending on temperature, blankets to suit, although it is easier with a sleeping bag!!

depending on the weather I would do fitted then the blanket (if cold) or fitted then the sheet (warm) - babies dont tend to need a sheet and a blanket unless really cold weather or they can over heat.
you can also buy gro bags for babies which are like sleep suits and help stop kick the covers off and ensure they dont get cold in the night

The other answers are all correct, however my baby would never keep her sheet or blanket on and would kick them off so now just has a fitted sheet on and sleeps in a grow bag/ baby sleeping bag which for me has been th best thing ever

Not silly...
Put the fitted sheet on the bottom over the mattress
Next put the non fitted sheet on (like a blanket) towards the bottom of the cot (feet to foot position) and tuck it in.
Next put the blanket over the non fitted sheet and tuck it in (feet to foot again)

dont forget to make the top sheet and blanket at the lowest part of the cot, that way the baby cant move DOWN under the sheets it can only move up .
