Many people stop smoking pot when they realize how much they can lose just by getting caught with it.
The temporary high isn't worth the penalties.

There are many reasons not to smoke pot.

1. It is illegal,

2. she could be arrested or worse in a drug buy gone bad.

3. She is putting smoke and other carcinogens in her lungs

4. THC Tetrohydrocanababol will go into her fat cells and stay there for months.

5. pot inhibits a person's ability to reason and think things through logically.

and several others that I need not go into. If these five reasons do not convince her; the other 10 or so reasons would not convince her either.

Your friend apparently is unaware of the dangers of smoking. Whether it is regular or pot. Her health will decline, she will become addictive, will need to take 'breaks' at work to satisfy the craving, will probably develop lung cancer and/or a brain tumor and the list goes on. In time she could die at an early age.
I hope this helps

I'm sorry, there is only one reason not to smoke pot: Because it's illegal, which is a shame.

She shouldn't smoke because its the first step to hard drugs. After the pusher finds out she's an easy mark. It will be offered to her all the time.
A baby has to crawl before it walks.. Same same with drugs. You start out crawling and then get pushed into the hard drugs and from then on you don't own your own life.
Ask your friend if she would drive over a cliff... If she says no, ask her why not? If she says it would be a dumb thing to do. You say .. but nobody told you not to....... So why not?
If you get nowhere with the 'its a dumb thing to do', its time to switch to...
How do you feel about a naked body search by some guy who'd knuckles drag the ground, when you get arrested and hauled into jail. All body cavities will be searched.
Good luck with your trying to save your friend from embarassing situations and debilitating lung conditions when she gets older.!

Since this is pot, let's not go to anything else.
First of all, it is her choice, you cannot force anything upon her.

You can do your best to persuade her, but in the end, she will do what she wants out of self interest. Her self interest is not yours.

Reasons not to smoke? They differ, but with Marijuana, it seems to be personal choice. Because, despite what other people have said, Marijuana seems to be the drug to smoke. Nicotine in cigarettes is worse. So why shouldn't she smoke it? Because it isn't good for you. Everybody can compare marijuana to cocaine, and heroin, and nicotine, but I mean, common, look at it straight.

If you smoke ANYTHING you are at a higher risk for disease and problems then if you don't smoke. Marijuana just seems to be the nicer of things to smoke.

It really is a moral issue. And what you friends think. If all he friends (like you) tell her that it is not the best choice, she will most likely not do it (remember peer pressure? It works both ways).

Amazing site. However, Marijuana at the moment is illegal. So, tell your friend to become a senator, with a %&#@ good persuasive voice, convince the rest of the government, that they should legalize marijuana, and do it. Then, when it is legal, she can smoke it. By that time, she should know enough about life to not smoke so the problem is solved. Plus, we got a good senator.

Cheers!

Here are ten reasons not to smoke:

Your Heart - Smoking is a major risk factor for heart disease, the number one killer of men and women in the United States.

Your Looks - Smoking causes facial wrinkles and dull, dry hair.

Your Lungs - Smoking causes nearly 90 percent of all lung cancers.

Your Reproductive Health - Smoking affects fertility and may be a factor in early menopause.

Your Kids - Secondhand smoke causes children to develop bronchitis and pneumonia. Parents who smoke are poor role models for healthy living.

Your Throat - Smoking, especially paired with heavy alcohol use, raises the risk of mouth and throat cancers.

Your Love Life - Smoking is a habit that turns off many potential partners. It can also cause erectile dysfunction.

Your Stomach, Bladder and Pancreas - Smoking raises the risk of cancer in these organs, especially combined with heavy alcohol use.

Your Pocketbook - On average, a pack of cigarettes costs about $4. It’s a very expensive habit.

Your Smile - Over time, smoking turns teeth yellow and may lead to gum disease and tooth decay.

Being a smoker myself, the lack of motivation is the biggest drawback, hence the term 'burnt'. Other than that, I really don't see anything wrong with it if you're done maturing mentally. By this, I mean your brain is done maturing; since some might say I'm still immature mentally. The harshness of the smoke could lead to lung cancer, but there are ways to heat it without producing smoke that will still give you the same effect; and just so we're on the same page, I'm not talking about tobacco. Unfortunately, the best thing you can do for your friend is to just let her know you disapprove, and that you fear for her future well-being. I would suggest doing so in a way that will not alienate her, since it seems like you do care about her. My other suggestion would be to invite her to do activities where she can't and won't feel compelled to smoke. Perhaps if she sees she doesn't need it, she will no longer have any use for it. In the end though, it's her decision, with all it's possible consequences.
That's my two cents for ya.

On a side note: I've seen no evidence that it's a gateway drug. People who seek out hardcore drugs rarely wish to smoke what we're talking about, because it's effect is euphoric, and it makes you internalize and think in abstract ways. People who are seeking out hardcore drugs are usually looking for escape from the real world and whatever mental pain they're experiencing. Smoking weed would just make them contemplate their failings, which is what they're trying to escape. They're seeking escape in the form of a drug. If they happen to find weed first, they quickly discover it's not what they were looking for. Marijuana didn't open the gate for them, it wasn't enough to begin with for them, and they don't discover that until they've smoked it. The term 'gateway drug' is a propagandist's tool to demonize Marijuana. No one's ever gotten high on weed and gone the wrong way down the street killing innocent families. No one's ever gotten high on weed and went and shot up the local McDonald's. No one's ever gotten high on weed and then thought they were invincible. No one's ever sold their valuable possessions to score a sack of weed.
Gateway drug? Please....
Furthermore, the only reason it is illegal, is because you can grow it yourself, completley unregulated. They've still developed drugs from its extracts, as they have with all other illicit natural substances. If it was so bad, why would they even bother? Pharmaceutical companies want their cut, as well as the government. If it's home-grown, they get no cut. It's been proven to be a pain-reliever, an appetite inducer, and a remedy for glaucoma, and other such painful ailments, including cancer; it also has less side effects than any of the 'legal' drugs prescribed for the same purposes. So, why is it illegal again?
