If the umbilical cord wraps around the baby's neck, it can strangle it.

Take oxygen from any living being for a long enough time and damage happens to the body.It is the natural process. What are your doctors advising you to do?If the only life for the child is to live in a vegetated state or be taken off life support then you have a tough decision ahead of you.I am sorry for this tragedy and hope that you find peace with this sooner then later.

First, this isn't your fault. As a mother, you're probably blaming yourself for this, but you didn't do anything wrong. I'm not a doctor, but I know a few things can cause low oxygen levels in the baby. If there was a kink in the umbilical cord, or if it twisted around itself, that would limit the oxygen your baby received. Of course, there's absolutely nothing a mom can do to prevent that from happening.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Cherish each moment you have with him...

Not sure in your babies case but sometimes in cases where a baby has had prolonged loss of oxygen it can be caused from the cord being around the neck. In my babies case the cord was wrapped around and when i had a contraction and pushed the cord would pull tighter that caused his heart rate to drop and he was also not breathing when he was born. If it were me i would be going back to the midwife who delivered your baby and quizzing them for answers. This is just my personal experience i am not an expert and if i was not sure i would go and get a second opinion
