In my point of view your rich.
You have nothing to pay for nor worry about. Your smart enough to be saving money in your account and still using money for personal needs. Congrats :)
When you start having bills and paying for stuff and don't have 3,000 dollars in any account then your poor. But for now your doing pretty damn good.
:D
Keep it up and you won't have a crappy credit score and such.
AND, when you do have bills pay them and have money saved incase one day you don't have enough to pay them, lol.

How much interest is your bank apying you for that $3k and how is it calculated (monthyl, annually)?

You may want to try putting it in a Certificate of Deposit at your bank- you will not be able to touch it for about 12 months- but you'll earn better interest then in the savings account.

Think about using it for College or saving for a down payment on a house.

no,, you are not poor,,keep up the good work,,,try not to have credit card debt when you get one...the interest you will pay will be more than the interest in the savings. only charge what you can pay at the end of the month. good luck in college!
