Since everything develops from simpler forms to more complex forms, a supreme being must be our future, not our origin.

His idea is that God must be the entity that will be formed when enough people are connected by the Internet.

Just the opposite, Josh.

Religion means "to search for the source". We have given the source a name: "God". God is the answer to the ultimate question: Why? Why do we exist? Why is the sky blue?

God won't be found in complexity, it will be found in the simplicity of understanding how a 0 and a 1 can make a machine think, in the simplicity of understanding how a nucleotide forms the basis of all life.

The internet is nothing more than this millenia's Tower of Babel. A tool that can be used to communicate with people around the world in order to find arcane pieces to the puzzle which is our lives or to communicate total bull crap. It is indiscriminate.

You won't find God on the Internet, you will find it within the truths you learn, no matter how simple.

Depends on your definition of God. I will say this, however: I think if computers were not so much made of rigid hardware, but more of something malleable, almost organic like, akin to tissue, then maybe, with all this *information* and energy corsing through it would in some way compound itself into its own consciousness, and may, in itself, become an entity of sorts. Of course, this is completely dependent on whether the properties of this supposed future tissue doesn't disintegrate or fail in some way, or even is irreperaibly damaged as a result of some malfunction or sudden energy jolt or what have you. I mean, I'm speaking of a technology that 200 years into the future Would I think it would reach omnipotence? I'm not sure. For it to be localized in one area, I wouldn't think it to be very powerful, but then again...

Very interesting hypothesis!
Physically I say the answer is no.
Mentally it could certainly be yes.
