Whos your fav American Idol and who do u think the new American Idol will be ?!?!?!?!?!

Well, I just started watching season 5. Of the 5 previous winners, the only two that have done successful are Kelly and Carrie. Ruben and Fantasia were both great singers (at least Fantasia) but they did not do too well. Taylor Hicks has not done well YET, but I am guessing he probably will breakthrough a little later. I cannot judge who is better- Carrie or Kelly. However, I listen more to Kelly, except that is only because I like pop music more than country. Carrie might be better, but I listen to Kelly more. This year, Melinda and Lakisha are in a WAY higher league than everyone else, except I do like Gina too. I would have to say that Lakisha (although a brilliant singer) has not been flawless- while I have to say I have nothing at all against Melinda. She's great!!

I don't have a favorite all the winners have had success some more than others. Kelly pop music, Carrie country, Ruben and Fantasia rhythm and blues. Another poster said that Fantasia was not a success I disagree she is the only winner to have a Lifetime channel movie done about her life, she is currently performing on Broadway in the Color Purple.
In 2006 she was nominated for four Grammys. Her debut album has sold over 2 million worldwide. Certified platinum in the US.
Ruben Studdard after winning in 2003 his debut album sold
over 400,000 copies in its first week and became the highest first-week sales of any American Idol winner. He was also nominated for a Grammy that year. In 2004 he released the gosple album I Need an Angel it has sold over a half a million copies. As of July 2005, Studdard is the fourth-best selling American Idol performer with more than 2 million albums sold in the U.S.

I don't really have a favorite winner of American Idol. My favorite person that has been on American Idol is definitely Chris Daughtry from last season. He has an amazing voice and his CD is incredible! This season, I like Phil. He reminds me of Chris.

My favorite is also the cutest: Carrie Underwood. I would like to see Haley Scarnato be the next Idol, or maybe even Blake Lewis... he's quite innovative.

My favorite idol- i would have to say theSuperstar Carrie Underwood, she is very talented. I would say that the next American Idol would be ---- either Melinda Doolittle or Lakisha Jones.

I was pulling for Bo Bice two years ago but I still think Underwood is the best - Kelly Clarkson is pretty much forgotten
Chris Sligh is awesome but the best is clearly Melinda Doolittle. Those guys are my American Idols
Have you heard Chris' band, Halfpastforever? They ROCK!
I'm glad Antonella Barba's off though!

yuck...lovers of music...listen for one quick second. I will try not to be offensive. We should not be supporting this show, it is actually BAD for music. It is an insult to true musicians and I will explain why. People who make music to make fame, fortune, fashion, friends/fans or whatever...they are not doing it because they want to make people happy or because they feel like this music needs to be shared with the world. They are doing it for those aforementioned items. A true musician makes/performs music because they have to, because they need to and there is no other reason. They don't care who likes it, how much money it will make them, how many times it's played on the radio, how many people will idolize them.
You'd never see the guys from Pennywise (just an example) doing a Sprite commercial or starring in a movie...they just want to play music, music they like...and when others like it, cool, that does feel good. But they don't sit down and write an album trying to think of how many hooks they can throw in or if this song can be used for a jingle. There is the difference between the pop musician (american idolers) and a true musician.
Pop music...is killing real music and sooner or later EVERYTHING will sound exactly the same...it's already pretty damn close to it. So please, stop watching this show and go out and find local bands in your area...you may be really surprised at how many bands out there are fantastic and lying underneath your radar because you are glued to the TV. I'm serious...I used to be the same way...I joined a band 4 years ago and started playing shows in my area and realized that there were tons of bands out there that would blow away the competition on radio/video if people weren't so used to hearing the same crap day in and day out. We can all change the music industry to stop it from being a money machine and bring it back to the early days when it was...a music machine.
I refuse to watch the show, but I am privy to voting for Sanjaya (or however the hell you spell his name) and I am going to vote for him and get this wretched show off the air. Thank you for reading this and I hope you try to consider what I am saying before dismissing it completely.

By far Carrie Underwood is the best winner. And this year either Melinda Doolittle or Lakisha Jones should win!!

Yall are sleepin on Fantasia! That girl ROCKS!!!! I was so excited when she won that season. This season however I like Melinda or Lakeisha...there's a lot of good talent but Malinda and Lakeisha is simply in another league.
