I can't speak for others, certainly there'd be widespread panic and riots.
What I'd do would depend on how bad the prognosis is, how big the comet is. If life had a decent chance of surviving after the first year or so, I'd figure the best place to be(ie inland, far from the impact site, underground, stable), get there, and do what I can to plan for survival, be that on credit or by theft if necessary.
If it was an absolute certainty that we'd all die, I'd probably just try to live my final week as enjoyably and stress-free as possible, though I'd probably start drinking heavily or get back into drugs (no long-term consequences to worry about, right?).

I actually had a nightmare like this once, except that there were a whole bunch of comets heading towards the earth at once. It was absolutely horrible because all the sights and sounds and feelings were so real. I probably would panic and try to get in touch with all the people I care about and tell them what I feel. I would probably just hold on to them and cry. It would be the realest I would ever act with anyone because knowing that death is imminent I wouldn't be self-conscious anymore. I wouldn't do anything towards material stuff because there would be no point to that. And I definitely would look over my beliefs and pray like crazy ( maybe I would eat a ton of my absolute favorite junk foods that I would normally avoid everyday). The world would be nothing less than pandemonium in every sense.

I think even with fair warning, a lot of people will remain oblivious. As for me, I will fall to my knees and pray like I have never before. I wouldn't be passive either. I would make sure I have tied up any loose ends with anyone, so that they know exactly how I feel about them. Showing the love of course. Making amends, etc. If it cannot be stopped, then all you can do is this. If you are one of the ones who run around trying to clutch onto the last straw, then yes, your world will be chaos.

I think everything would stop functioning which depends on the immediate service of people; trade, transport, education, etc. There would be electricity, water, phone... Everyone would turn toward themselves and toward their dearest. There would be enough food.
I might get tempted to use the strongest drug for a one time. But only the one drug I'm talking about.
I would be with my dearest. I suppose we would say to each other what we haven't said. I wouldn't use my time to be violent. I doubt people would be violent when there is no more hope...
Instead, people would be peaceful and loving toward each other.
Then, we would all enjoy the magnificent scenery.
One last thing I would do is:
hope.

If we are all going to die and there is not other choice... I would sit in my house with my son and talk with him and let him know i loved him and not let him know what is going to happen....i wouldn't pray... i would laugh and look at my son. i would hold him and hope that wherever we go is together....I wouldn't take the time to make amends.. I would focus on the most important thing and that is my son...I know I was a good person and if there is a god he will let me be where my son is ,,,,
