My daughter is expecting her first baby in July and I would like to put a book together for her . If you have tips for new moms that you know to be tried and true then please share them. I would be delighted to get as many tips from as many nationalities and cultures as possible. Thanks in advance to those who are able to help.

Don't focus on the big milestones...enjoy every moment leading up to those milestones! A first step is so much more wonderful than having to chase them. Hearing them say "mama" changes your life but hearing them say "no" changes everything. Parenting a child is a struggle but loving them is easy. Enjoy every moment, even the hard ones and always remember that they are a little piece of you just growing into something bigger and a little better if you have done your job.

try and avoid using language around your child that you would prefer they didnt say - even as babies and toddlers they pick up everything!!! - the word NO should only be used in a dangerous situation or you'll hear it alot in everyday life.
If people offer help - take it, some people never get asked if they need help and they end up having a stressful time, even if its half an hour so you can grab a shower - its better than rushing.
Even if your not hungry in the day - eat - you need to maintain your energy, so even if the house is a tip, sit down for 5 mins and eat, it will make you feel a lot better and able to cope with what lies ahead.
Make time for your partner, a baby will only be a baby for a few yrs, a partner needs attention too or they start to feel neglected.
Rest when you can - if your baby is asleep, sleep too if your tired. It helps when having to deal with night time feeds.
Get into a routine as early as possible. It will benefit long term.
As soon as your baby is old enough to pick up toys, encourage them to help tidy up - it encourages self help skills, helps keep the place tidy and its invaluable for when they get older and the toys get smaller.

1. Don't buy a breast pump until you are sure that your baby attaches. I bought mine while still pregnant and my son never wanted to breastfeed.

2. For diaper rash (treat and prevent) mix vaseline with corn starch and apply on every diaper change along with Deisting creamy Original.

3. The Boppy is one of the best investments you'll ever make... it makes breastfeeding or bottle feeding more comfortable and it can also be used by the baby for tummy time.

Hope this helps!
Blessings for all of you!

My daughter would never sleep in her crib when she was a baby. Unfortunately, I didn't figure out that it was the fact that the bed was cold that kept waking her up when I'd put her in until much later. I'm not going to tell you the sleepless nights....
So when I finally did figure out that it was the cold mattress waking her up, I used to put a heating pad in the crib under the blankets just before I'd feed her her bedtime bottle. 20 minutes later, bed was warm, baby was asleep. Just make sure not to forget to take the heating pad out before putting baby to bed. She slept in her crib no problem after that.

I think a routine as soon as you can makes it so much easier for a mum , dont eat lots of choclate when breast feeding it always gives a baby really bad belly ache and wind.so good luck to you sweetie.

Say "Yes" to your mum when she offers to help. She's done it before and you turned out alright!
