You'd think with all those "family values" they would have nothing but 100% straight sons, daughters, and siblings.

Is it a learned trait? Some of the gay friends I have would rather be straight than gay...but they are? How do explain that? The million dollar question is why are some of us gay while most of us are not?
I think it shows a heck of a lot of humility and backbone to be a public figure of any kind and declare sexual orientation to the world. As though an one is entitled to know anyone's 'behind' closed doors lifestyle.
Whatever happened to integrity and respect for our elected officials--for those leaders in our highest offices? Whatever happened to the 'ought to' behaviors? And Decorum and discretion? Who said " Discretion is the better part of Valor?" (and it wasn't Shakespeare folks).
You make and incorrect hypothesis that family values and being gay are some how connected. Please state your source---research? Or is this just another opinion kind of question?

Good point. When I was in college years ago, a young lady (lesbian) told me that she was a lesbian because she was sexually abused when she was a child (years later, after Cher's daughter came out, she called me to say, "See? Just like her... her baby sitter's used to abuse her just like me!").
Who really knows? As far as I know, "straight" couples with good family values have also had gay children. WHO really knows? What about those who've never been molested and are gay? Look around you and see all those super conservatives that have been exposed as closet gays; maybe they can shed some light on this topic.
