I think hard work is one of the lessons we need to learn while studying and working. You can be realistic by looking at it as something that teaches you to be more tough, learned and skillful; thus, over time, you can be proud of yourself as a hardworking man, few colleagues will look down on you since you've proved to the world around you that you're dedicated to your work. In short, famous people in the world work hard and harder to be someone in, say, a company or a university. Or else, you'd deserve less respect or recognition.
