Tell me your experience with Zoloft only during pregnancy. I know the risks, I know about other drugs. I just want what has happened to pregnant women taking Zoloft.

I'm taking it now for pre-partum depression, and feel soooooo much better than I did with both previous pregnancies. With a history of severe post-partum depression, my doctor and I agreed that it was best to preemptively keep that misery from coming back. I'm actually really looking forward to the delivery now, instead of feeling miserable and oppressed about everything. So in my case I'd say the small risks of taking it are well worth it.

I took Zoloft during the last month of my second pregnancy and for several months while breastfeeding. At the time, it was one of only 3 antidepressants approved for pregnancy and breastfeeding. That wasn't due to testing showing they were "safe", only a lack of evidence that they were "unsafe". It did help with my mood swings, but my son was very fussy and restless. He has always been an emotionally high needs child and developmentally delayed. Despite what I have read since about possible problems with Zoloft, I can't really say these issues are related. He shows signs of autism and we are looking into further testing (he is 5 now). I have an uncle who believes he has Aspbergers, so its just as likely this is something that runs in my family. Even if I could do it over again, I'm not sure what to do differently. If you truly need an antidepressant, there aren't a lot of other options. You need to take care of yourself. If you are seriously considering going off Zoloft, talk to your doctor and wean off slowly. Also, talk to your family since you will need to be around understanding and supportive people to help you deal with things. Good luck. :)

I was on it when I fell pregnant, then I went off it because I was pregnant, but ended up going on it again due to personal problems. My doctor was more than happy for me to be on it as it really did help. Much better to be on it and happy and I think the risks are minimal. I am off it now and my baby is 5 months old.
